Allow to create a work order for a contact (not account)

Field Service today only supports creating Work Orders for a Service Account. It would be great to also support Contact (so we can support the B2C scenario).

Thank you for your feedback.

Currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future. As you're likely aware, all of our data is associate to service accounts so this would be a significant shift, however, if there's enough demand, we would consider making this change.

Sincerely,

Jason Cohen

Site calendar

When the service account is something like a store, it may be useful to track their opening hours in the same way as we have working hours for a resource.

The time window of a work order only works if opening hours are the same each day. However if the store is open Mo-Fr 8am-8pm, but o...

Duration - Display in Hours, not in days or minutes

When we plan a job/service or similar we have contract/agreements/estimations (or similar) where we state the work needed in Hours to perform this job.

To have duration display as e.g.3,75 days is utterly confusing, someone looking at that would think this job would take almo...

Generate a quote from Work Order

We would like to use the work order functionality and take advantage of the Incidents definition and relationship with services and service tasks plus characteristics. After that we would be generating a quote that is sent to the customer for approval/ changes. Currently we have to use a plug-...

Thank you for your feedback.

We need some more details to understand your suggestion better. Can you please help us by answering the following questions?

  • What would happen to a work order that generated a quote if the quote isn't accepted?
  • How would you expect scheduling logic to handle a quoted work order before the quote has been accepted?
  • Once the quote has been accepted, how would you expect that to be reflected on the work order?

While we can see this as a potentially interesting use case, we'd love to understand if this work order to quote idea is a more broad demand by seeing this get more votes. At the moment, this isn't something we've heard from the market/community, aside from here.

Sincerely,

Jason Cohen

Ability to enter a negative line item on a work order

Currently if a correction is required in the billing of a Work order, there is no ability to correctly apply a negative value. You are able to enter a negative Quantity and/or a negative Unit Amount. However, if the result is a negative amount, the system automatically sets the value to $0.00 r...

Being able to use a Cusomer Asset on a Work Order without the need for the Service Account to be related to that Asset

If there are Customer Assets that change their location from time to time (cars, ships, lorries, trains, construction machines, ...) it is painful to appropriately plan Work Orders ahead of time for the same Asset but changing locations. When trying to decouple a Customer Asset from the Servic...

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We believe we grasp what you are trying to do; however, to ensure our understanding, please answer the following questions:

  • In this scenario, it sounds like the mobile asset could be treated as a Service Account with an address and geolocation that changes. In what ways are these mobile assets distinct from a Service Account?
  • Does it often cross territories?
  • Can you help us understand why it is treated as a Customer Asset?
  • How far in advance is work scheduled?
  • Can you share any other relevant use-case details that makes enabling associating a customer asset to any service account the best way to manage work on these items?
