LCS: Sync up actual LCS status of cloud-hosted environments with Azure

When the VM in a cloud-hosted environment is stopped or started in Azure (e.g. via Azure automation run books), the status of the environment is not reflected in LCS. This is causing confusion on the part of users who navigate to these environments via LCS.

Our customer is usi...

The plan is to expose APIs from LCS to start and stop the VMs and the recommendation will be to use those instead of doing it from Azure so status is handled correctly.

Automated upload of Build package to LCS

When the full build completes through VSTS the package should get  uploaded to the shared asset library of LCS for the subscription . So that deployment can happen to multiple environment at the same time on a click.

Generic API for LCS

Many tasks in Azure/365 can be automated. On.y in LCS is no chance to control with e.g. PowerShell. An API like REST would be very fine for automating LCS tasks.

We have released two sets of APIs, and will continue to add more based on feedback.  One set is the DevALM whereby you can automatically upload packages from Azure DevOps, and deploy those to your Tier2 environments.  The other is the DataALM whereby you can trigger database refresh from Production to Sandbox, or between Sandboxes.

Scriptable API for LCS

We need a scriptable (fx. PowerShell) API for LCS. It needs to work on all project types, also T1. Prioritized list of funtions needed 1. Start environment 2. Stop environment 3. Environment provisioning 4. Upload Asset artifacts 5. Apply updates 6. Deallocate environment 7. Delete environment

Apply deployable package via LCS using a mobile device

When you try to apply a deployable package to a non-production environment via LCS using a mobile device, picking the right deployable package is kind of Russian roulette. Currently on android phone and iPads the experience is, that you are only seeing the columns "Modified by" and Publisher, ...

Hello

Thank you for your feedback.

This is a great suggestion! We are planning on making APIs available externally for customers to start and stop VMs that can then be orchestrated through Flow or Logic Apps. It might not be through Azure DevTest Labs

Sincerely,

An option to automatically shutdown newly deployed virtual machines

At the moment LCS does not have a fixed duration for deploying new Operations environment virtual machines, aka. we don't exactly know how long it takes. An option in the deployment settings to enable shutting down the machine(s) when they are deployed would be beneficial cost wise.

Downtime Landing Page

It would be great to support a downtime landing page.  This would go hand-in-hand with the downtime message that we can send to users in the system prior to the outage.

Thank you for your feedback.

This is a great suggestion! We will consider this in our roadmap. We plan to add an incident/outage communication dashboard in Lifecycle services to begin with and we can look at extending that to the Finance and Operations app.

Sincerely,

PM,

Microsoft.
