Product and version: Finance and Operations

We understand your concern and how this can affect your business however we'll not be purcuing a fix for this issue now in scope of a bug. For supporting a scenario when employee is reporting expenses from the purchases of services eligible for WHT, please log an IDEA.

Have the ability to record Expense Transactions in Detail in the General ledger but summarized per AP control account/Creditor per expense report
In Expense Management, the customer wants to post their Expense Entries to the General Ledger in Detail but in Summary in the subledger.
They have set the option: Allow grouping of transactions based on offset account specified on the payment method = No because they want a detailed entry in the General ledger.
Expense management parameters | Microsoft Docs
What the system is currently doing is that this:
- Creates a detailed entry in the General ledger which is what they want BUT
- Then creates multiple voucher entries based on the number of Expense payment methods available in the Expense report on the AP/Vendor side.
What they would like to see happen is that the entries are posted in Detail to the General ledger as required and post to the subledger (AP/Vendor) in summary.
This behavior already exists in the Purchase order and Sales Order side. The PO invoice is detailed and the AP side is summarized. They want the similar behavior to be rolled out to the Expense report as well.

External Solution
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We understand how frustrating it can be when something doesn’t work the way you expect it to. Upon further investigation, we have determined that the issue you reported is not a bug but rather a feature that was designed to work in a specific way.
The feature is by design because of the following: Change to posted vouchers in general ledger are limited to data that is internal in nature. The changes do not impact data for external financial statement reporting. As such, there is no restriction imposed, based on the period status.
We will continue to track this issue and monitor if other customers are impacted. We appreciate your feedback and want you to know that we are always working to improve our products and services.
