Item text on purchase approval app

Suggested by Mikkel Søndberg New  1 Comments

Microsoft developed an app for approving purchase orders. This app works fine but have an quite important issue since you can only see the product name in the app and not the item text from the purchase order line.

Many companies have generic item numbers or purchase using Product categories. In that case, when you want to approve using the app, you onlly see the name of the item or the name of the product category.

    Example:

A name of a product category can be "IT supplies" and then in the item text it says "2 Think pad T590"

Currently in the app you would see "IT supplies" but approver must be able to see the actual text from purchase order line in order to approve the order.

Currently customer do not want to start using this app because of this, since they do not know what they approve.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to extend these apps.

    • Pleases make item text from purchase order line available in the app
    • It would also be very welcomed if you made it possible to make extensions to these apps. Companies would need a lot of different information.

Extend "Customer approval" workflow to include initial customer creation (e.g. prospect-to-customer conversion)

Suggested by Melanie Franta New  0 Comments

The existing Customer approval workflow is a valuable tool to ensure that changes to critical customer fields (such as payment terms) are properly reviewed and approved. However, this workflow only applies after the customer record has already been created.

In our case, the most sensitive point is actually during the initial creation of the customer, especially when a prospect is converted into a customer. At this stage, key fields like payment terms, credit limits, and methods of payment are defined – but these values can currently be entered and saved without any approval process.

    Suggested improvement:

Enable the Customer approval workflow (or a similar validation process) to be triggered during the initial creation of a customer.

    For example:

    • Allow users to convert a prospect to a customer.
    • Require approval for specific fields (same as in the existing Customer approval workflow) before the record is fully active or used in transactions.
    • Optionally allow configuration to define which fields or scenarios should require approval at creation.

    Business impact:

This ensures that all relevant customer master data is validated before being used in downstream processes, reducing the risk of incorrect financial conditions, duplicate records, or manual rework later on.

Enable default value for "Group by planning priority" in manual firming dialog (Planned transfer orders)

Suggested by Elise Nguyen New  0 Comments

Currently, the “Group by planning priority” option in the manual firming dialog (Planned Orders > Firm) always defaults to “No”, regardless of the global setup in Master Planning Parameters > Firm – Transfer.

This causes significant user friction in environments where the standard business process is to always firm with grouping enabled (i.e., “Yes”). Users must manually tick this checkbox every time they firm orders, which adds risk and inconsistency in high-volume operations.

We would like to request a feature enhancement that allows this checkbox to:

    • Inherit the value from the master planning parameters, or
    • Be controlled by a user or company-level default setting

    This improvement would:

    • Reduce manual errors
    • Align manual firming behavior with global planning intent
    • Improve usability and consistency across the system

This parameter is already respected in batch firming, so having parity in manual firming would be highly beneficial.

Thank you for considering this enhancement.

Purchase agreement - Parameter for the exceedance (allow, warn, error)

Suggested by Phuc Truong New  0 Comments

In some case, the actual demand can exceeds the committed quantity / amount of the purchase agreement. I want the system to have the parameter for allowing, alert, or mark error when the purchase order's quantity / amount exceeds the commited quantity / amount.

With that parameter, I think users maym have flexible purchasing but still aware of the exceedance.

    Thank you so much!

Support for Circular BOMs in Dynamics 365

Suggested by Harley Thai (Tek Experts) New  0 Comments

A circular bill of material (BOM) reflects an item that has been defined as a component of itself, whether it is a first-level component or a lower-level component.

Currently, Dynamics 365 does not support Circular BOMs, as the functionality poses a high risk for incorrect cost calculations. When a circular BOM exists, cost roll up calculations and planning calculations will identify the error, and the calculations will not be completed.

However, circular BOMs is a common practice for many organizations, especially in specific industries where product structures rely on interconnected or iterative components.

We request that Microsoft consider addressing Circular BOMs into Dynamics 365 as a standard feature, ensuring the system can handle such configurations without posing risks to cost calculations or planning processes. Robust mechanisms should be implemented to safeguard against false cost calculations while allowing organizations to use Circular BOMs effectively and efficiently.

This enhancement would enable businesses to accurately reflect their operational requirements in the system, improving the overall usability and relevance of Dynamics 365 for diverse scenarios.

Production order to release / material availability check not considering reservations (bug?)

Suggested by Paolo Anoe New  0 Comments

The production order to release form (from Production Floor Management workspace) is based on material availability calculated according to master planning logic, working on dynamic master plan.

This is not working in contexts where production reservations are managed, and this is mandatory when WMS is implemented, where reservations for components are generated at production order Release.

Having reservations, this does not fit with the availability check procedure, because they are ignored. We can have cases where two production orders share some components and for some reasons the second one (in order of requirement dates) is considered fully feasible and, therefore, released. The shared component for the first order will be considered again available, regardless the reservation occurred.

This seems more a logical bug than an improvement idea.

Warning message on Warehouse app Cycle counting

Suggested by Glaiza Dionio New  1 Comments

Problem on CANCEL option when using warehouse management app during cycle counts:

We had a number of instances where users CANCELLED at the end of the process the counts that had done already for that location, forcing them to complete the count on the location again.

Once you get to the end and want to add another item you see the AddLP option.

Users accidentally hit the CANCEL option when they no longer want to add another item.

When they do this all previous count is lost. Which is a pain.

    Idea suggestion is:

To add at least a warning message (like Are you sure you want to cancel) at that point when you hit the Cancel button before actually executing a Cancel.

Role copied from "Maintenance worker" in security configuration should be able to access Asset management V2 app if there're enough privileges.

Suggested by Haixia Shi New  0 Comments

Currently, only user with standard role "Maintenance worker" can access Asset management V2 app. A new role copied from "Maintenance worker" in security configuration cannot access Asset management V2 app even if it has the same privileges as the standard one. We should support customized roles to access Asset management V2 app.

increase attachment size limit more than 5MB

In the Asset Management APP, if there is a file of more than 5Mb attached, it cannot be opened. Can this restriction be disabled?

Order commited license plate > handle by license plate should allow override of put location.

Suggested by Lianne Rotgerink New  0 Comments

Currently, for a client we are facing the issue of a limited space in the warehouse, and for staging we need to override the staging location ad-hoc to where there is capacity at that moment in time. However, they are using the order committed license plate reservation, and as MSFT suggests, you should use the handle by license plate on the mobile device menu item.

However, when you turn this on, all overrides are not possible to access, which is accurate for the pick step.

However, it should be possible on the put step to override the staging location in the mobile device.

It is not possible to use the change work location on the browser as we are picking physically in different warehouses and you will end up with the same issue of not being able to override the location in one of the warehouses.

My idea is to add this functionality to the handle by license plate and also to include the anchoring.
