    Business Focused Problem Description

    The customer needs to correct an approved expense report with incorrect fields, but it is not possible to edit them.

    To edit approved expense report, the function to get an approved expense report back to draft status is very much needed for the customer.

    Timesheet has the function to reset workflow status to draft.

     

    Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations > Project management and accounting> Periodic > Timesheets > Reset workflow status

     

    They request us to add the same function to Expense report workflow.

     

    <Issue Details>

    Pre-requisite: Create an expense workflow with Auto approve condition.

     

    For the first issue:

    1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.
    2. Add a new record.
    3. Enter the details of any expense.
    4. Specify the Project ID on the header level.
    5. Do not specify the details in the Description text.
    6. Enter the transaction date as 10\10\2001 for the expense line.
    7. Save and submit the Expense report.

    For the second issue:

    1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.
    2. Add a new record.
    3. Enter the details of any expense. Do not specify the Project ID on the header level.
    4. Specify the Project ID on the line level.
    5. Do not specify the details in the Description text.
    6. Save and submit the Expense report.

     

    For the third issue:

    1. Create an expense report from Expense management > My expenses > Expense report.
    2. Add a new record.
    3. Enter the details of any expense. Do not specify the Project ID on the header level.
    4. Specify the Project ID on the line level.
    5. Save and submit the Expense report.

     

    As the expense report are set for Auto approve, the report gets approved, but it is not possible to edit these fields later, which is very much needed for our records.

    THE ASK :

    They request us to add the same function to Expense report workflow.

    Business Impact

    1. What is the business impact to the customer?

    There is no way to correct expense reports with incorrect fields on D365fFO. As results, the company cannot pay expenses to their employees correctly.

     

    1. How does the problem impact their business and how bad is it? (Ability to bill, revenue loss, sales etc).

    There is a possibility that the company cannot pay expenses to their employees correctly.

     

    1. How frequently does this issue occur?

    Every time when employees submit expense reports with incorrect fields.

     

    1. Is there a workaround? If so, is the customer applying the workaround?

    No workaround on D365fFO. In previous AX, they were able to rectify these issues on their own using tablebrowser. But on D365fFO they cannot have any option other than to approach Microsoft to ask modify fields.

     

    1. How many users are affected by this issue?

    All employees

     

  • INDIA GST- Project onaccount transactions SAC code

    Client is asking SAC code setup at project group level instead of doing tedious job for updating SAC at  each milestone transaction in each fixed price project.

    Clarify for SAC setup for milestones in fixed price projects

     

    Repro steps:

    Project management and accounting/Common/ALL Project /Manage/On Account transactions.

    Proposed solution:

     

    1st Preference: Option to defined SAC code at project group level  as given in project category.

     

    2nd Preference: Option to defined SAC code at Project Level.

     

     

     

     

  • Period wise number sequence series not allocated

    Financial year wise separate sales invoice number, voucher series is require to file the GSTIN return. This is a basic requirement of GST. Based on the Transaction date need to be generate the Invoice number or Voucher series and other document series. There is a requirement from users to post Last FY sales invoice ( Free test invoices ) from the system. If user post sales invoice using free txt invoice System should pick next number from last FY posted . Also if user post free test invoice for this FY year system should pick the number defined in this FY . Currently system is not allowing to map two different number sequence for free txt invoice based on FY There is no option available to define multiple period wise number sequence series in single number sequence code in AX for free text invoice For Example - for Free Text invoice - Number sequence For FY 17-18 - Effective date - 01-Mar-2017 to 31-Mar-2018 -- SIV -17-18-99999 . In this case if user post sales invoice on 31-Mar-2018 on 10th April system should pick the next invoice number posted from number sequence code FY 17-18
  • Category changing when filling the Timesheet

    User has a default category assigned to an activity at WBS level the same will be populated by the system when an Activity is selected by the user. System is not preventing/alerting the user when category is manually changed/updated, also it’s getting posted. System needs to prevent/alert the user from manually changing/updating the category and also prevent from posting the timesheet after manually changing/updating the category. Internal bug id 207726

  • WBS level activity status control Not working

    As per setup at the WBS level the activities which are manually set to IN progress shall only be seen in the drop-down menu, but user can see all the tree nodes of WBS. System need to consider the status of Activity and accordingly system must filter the data/record as per status

  • Bank to Bank check payments payment journal

    Description of problem: Contra Entry - Bank to Bank transaction through payment journal from Generate payments. Repro steps: We want to transfer amount from bank to bank with the help of cheque. In Vendor payment journal, we are selecting bank as account type and offset account type. After selecting bank in both places "Method of payment" is getting disabled. If "Method of payment" is not cheque we can't generate payments.

  • increase the inter-company hours

    An employee has filled inter-company timesheet for 8 hours. While invoicing, project manager realized that he can be 10 hours to the client. However, the additional 2 hours should be billed against that particular employee only. While adjusting the transactions to 10 hours or 125%, the system doesn't allow to increase the hours. What is the workaround for such situations? Repro steps: 1. Post intercompany timesheet for 8 hours 2. Adjust the timesheet hours from "Posted transactions" to 10 hours 3.     At the time of creating new Position user specified Department is not getting saved automatically in Financial dimension The thing to note is Department is an operating unit and is used as a financial dimension
  • project resource scheduling view

    Specify Resource Hour View issue Weeks stating is defaulted to Sunday, instead we need this to start from Monday, is there a setup for this or any other way to get the view configured. Product team feedback: currently the product is hard coded to have Sunday as the starting day of the week. There is no configuration can be done to change the starting date at the moment

  • Option to reverse posted free text invoices

    We have option to post free text invoices in bulk like say 4000 invoices. But if any mistake is made for all 4000 invoices which are posted ,option is needed to reverse these 4000 invoices based on filter criteria
