Digital Content Animation
Suggested by William Harding – Under Review – 1 Comments
Hi, As a medical device manufacturer we have a need for using Guides in many areas, where I would like to animate my imported digital objects, as might be shown in various steps of various Guides. For example, when the operator is using a vacuum pen to pick up a PCB component, the specific motion of the operator’s hand is critical as they place and release the component. That said, I have already incorporated a video that shows the correct procedure, but now I would like to be able to have my digital twins (the imported digital PCB component and the vacuum pen) to rotate 15 degrees and then up, away from the released component. So, with that desire in mind, how can I create objects or modify them in the Guides authoring tool, such that I might create slight animations? As a side note, the vacuum pen scenario is only 1 of over 100 scenarios where some degree of digital object animation would be desired. For example, imagine the operator now looking (with a HL2 on their head) at the component to be assembled and then while maintaining a POV, they are able to see the digital twins and then mirror that digital action/animation while maintaining focus on the targeted assembly. In other words, to have the operator’s gaze moved away from the target assembly (i.e., to review a video) would disrupt the flow and could result in damage of a very expensive and fragile assembly. Let me know if those examples make sense and if there are any ideas that you can provide, related to my need for animating imported digital content. Thanks in advance for your response. William -
Stretch
Suggested by Jonathan Montplaisir – Under Review – 1 Comments
Being able to stretch holograms would save us so much time! Scaling is useful but stretching would bring us on another level. So far, we have to draw all the proportions of rectangles, cylinders and all other shapes separately. It's also hard to track all of these in the 3D library. -

FIRSTLY : The words "Steps" and "Tasks" could be customizable. It would be nice to be able to replace these 2 texts by what we want. SECONDLY: The task should also be at the top since it is the parent category. Ex. : 1 Machine setup 1.1 Disassemble part X (1.1 Might require several steps) 1 Machine setup 1.2 Disassemble part Y ...and so on... The goal is to situate the operator in the procedure structure. - 1 - 1.1 - 1.2 -2 - 2.1 - 2.2... -
Have more control over the flow of steps
Suggested by Alexander Meijers – Under Review – 0 Comments
At the moment an user can step through the steps defined in a training. The user can skip steps and even click further without doing the step. It would be great to have more control over these steps. Think of a way (maybe through Power Apps) where you can make sure foe example that the user fulfills a questionnaire before allowed to go to the next step. An example is using the training as an exam where users should execute and answers questions during each step. It would be great if based on such a questionnaire or action of the user another path of steps can be taken. -
Allow the use of high quality or complex 3D models in Guides by integrating with Azure Remote Rendering Service
Suggested by Alexander Meijers – Under Review – 0 Comments
In some situations a much higher quality of 3D models is required during a training. It is also possible to extend the functionality van Microsoft Guides to for example a form of digital twin with real-time information through Power Apps. In that case a more detailed model is required. Current Microsoft Guides does not allow models that big. That means you need to build a custom solution which for the most part does the same as Microsoft Guides. It would be great to have large models streamed into Microsoft Guides steps by integrating Microsoft Guides with Azure Remote Rendering Service. -
Addition of pause and resume functions for GUides
We heard many needs from our customers as follows. Workers would like to resume thier work and restart from the next step after thier break, like lunch time, when they using Guides. Also, even if the workers changed, Guides would be continued to operate, and would carry out the work from previos person to next person from next step.

Enable author to override 3D positional data for more precise placement
Suggested by Chris Lowndes – Under Review – 0 Comments
When authoring a guide, placing of 3D objects as part of a step is often imprecise at best. There should be a way for an author to 'fine tune' the placement of objects so that they align more precisely with existing holograms and real world space. For example - I have a 3D real world object and a virtual twin of that object as a transparent hologram. I wish to place that transparent twin exactly over the real world object after the anchor alignment step is completed. Because the author can only do this by hand, the angles and alignment are very difficult to get just right. When I compare this to setting up a scene in Unity (for example) the lack of access to XYZ position coordinates, rotation and scale is somewhat frustrating.

Allow Custom Actions
Suggested by Chris Lowndes – Under Review – 4 Comments
Allow authors to develop custom actions to include in Guides steps. Some examples of the type of actions which should be permitted to extend the use cases for guides: - take a photo or video from within HoloLens 2 to audit a step or capture an object state - calling a REST API with a piece of data, adding the response to the available data on the next step - calling an Azure Function, passing a piece of data (e.g. a photo of an object), adding the response to the available data on the next step

Adding the ability to remove content from Guides
Suggested by Jim Orcherton – Under Review – 0 Comments
Hello. Please add the ability to remove content from Guides from within the software itself. I will have lots of models and would like to remove them on demand whenever possible.
