Dimension Segments to be displayed in separate columns

Suggested by Arun Koyu Under Review  9 Comments

In Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Trial Balance (General Journal > Inquiries and reports > Trial balance) is displayed with Main accounts and Dimension segments in separate columns. This is enabled by the parameter "Display segments in separate columns". Hence, when the Trial Balance is exported to excel, all segments are exported into separate columns in Excel too.

Similar functionality is also required in all other places where we view financial transactions viz. Voucher transactions (General Journal > Inquiries and reports > Voucher transactions).

Currently, when Voucher transactions (posted data) are exported into excel, segments and main account is combined into a single column, and hence not understandable which segment value belongs to which Segment.

Suggest improving intercompany’s transaction handling for massive SO/PO consolidation into a single consolidated invoice

Suggested by Edmond Chang Under Review  4 Comments

Our F&O customers are having many intercompany transactions and facing challenges in consolidating multiple orders into a consolidated invoice. The aim is to post respective purchase orders and sales orders automatically for inter-company transaction and keep the posting consistency. The current F&O version doesn’t seem to support this consolidating multiple inter-company order processing into one invoice using “batch invoice”. Below is the details: When a user wants to post a consolidated invoice, which aggregates multiple intercompany’s orders, the user tries to use native “batch invoice” function and filter out relevant packing slips. Then they try to choose “summary update for Invoice account” in the “posting invoice” screen. During posting, an error will be popped out and the posting cannot be completed. Unlike non-intercompany transaction, the same process can be run smoothly between normal vendors and sellers.

Exclude future sales order from credit limit check

Suggested by Jan Meijering Under Review  9 Comments

It should be possible to setup a timeframe (horizon) and the balance of the orders that are outside this timeframe should not be included within the credit limit check. In some business a part of the sales is done in a preliminary stage called (pre-sales) while other sales is done right now (in season). As the values of the presales is often very high and the delivery will be done after a few month's it influences the order balance right now and causes blocks for in seasonal sales.

Adding currency abbreviation in balance columns

Suggested by Hylke Britstra Under Review  18 Comments

In the trial balance and in the voucher transactions forms balances from multiple currencies can be presented:

    Transaction Currency

    Accounting Currency

    Reporting Currency

In the voucher transactions form the Transaction Currency abbreviation is mentioned for each transaction in the column 'Currency', but the abbreviations of the Accounting Currency and Reporting Currency are not visible. You need to find these at the Ledger setup. Not all users have access to this option (or it costs time to find these) and when you work in many legal entities with different currencies you can make mistakes in the interpretation of these columns.

I think it would be an improvement to present the symbol or the abbreviation in the Accounting Currency and Reporting Currency column headers in at least:

The trial balance form columns: Opening balance, debit, credit, Closing balance (including the Reporting currency balance columns when the accounting currency and reporting currency are different)

The voucher transactions form columns: Amount, Amount in reporting currency

    Example:

Trial balance column header names in a legal entity using Accounting Currency EUR and Reporting Currency USD:

Opening balance (EUR), Debit (EUR), credit (EUR), Closing balance (EUR), Opening balance – Reporting currency (USD), Debit – Reporting currency (USD), Credit – Reporting currency (USD), Ending balance – Reporting currency (USD).

Credit management - Credit limit Group reports

Suggested by Annaik Boudin Under Review  3 Comments

Credit management has been enable. When using Credit Limit Group, no reports provide information related to credit limit Group. Suggestions: a. from the customer credit groups screen is a menu option to the Aged balances. This menu brings the aged balances up in a filtered format for this group. b. On customer balance, add credit limit Group c. When credit limit exceed due to credit limit Group, on credit management hold list and statistics, information from Credit limit group should be added.

Intercompany transactions recognation with dimension not just with main account

Suggested by Under Review  7 Comments

Customers Group structure includes many companies e.g. 20 companies in one or many countries. Intercompany transactions need main account at least for IC accounts receivables/payables, sales, purchases. In this scenario with current standard functionalities customer would need to setup many intercompany main accounts. Worst case this might mean many hundred intercompany main accounts. We have not done this but created just few intercompany main accounts and use with this one dimension to separate transactions inside main account. So we have dimension with values of legal entity e.g. in contoso USMF, USSI etc. We would like to have this dimension option to be available in needed intercompany functionalities in AX/Operations e.g. creating intercompany invoices (customer/vendor) and in adjustment. We have faced modification needs in Project accounting but this concerns many other modules too.

Reference to original customer credit note on a reimbursement transaction

Suggested by Heidi de Boer Under Review  3 Comments

When you want to reimburse a credit note of your customer, it should be wishfull that the reimbursement transaction has a reference to the original credit note, so that your customer knows which credit note is paid. However, the invoice field stays empty on the reimbursement transaction. Microsoft reported this issue as an intended behavior, because if you trying to run the reimbursement with multiple credit notes it will be cumulate all invoices, hence reference details will not be captured. But in that case, they could also include all (or one of the) invoice numbers as reference and / or make a parameter that you want one reimbursement transaction per credit note.

Ability to put default financial dimensions on the grid control

Suggested by Hendy Budiono Under Review  3 Comments

I would be great to have the ability to show and edit and filter the financial dimensions on the grid. This will help clients to easily identified the dimensions of the records across the system. Before AX2012 we have ability to put financial dimensions on the grid, without any modification. This was one of the most common requests that we received from our clients.

    Fixed assets depreciation simulation reports

Suggested by Annaik Boudin Under Review  13 Comments

Some customers post depreciation once a year. In between they simulate depreciation for financial report but also adjust company strategy. At year end, they may change depreciation profile to adapt to fiscal possibility. There is no report to simulate depreciation by fixed asset (detail or summary). This will help customer to define any fiscal strategy. but also, it is a way to check is depreciations are correct before any posting.
