Suggested by Laurens van der Tang Completed

It is currently not possible to do an over pick for raw material picking (production order). We have scenario's that the bill of material is not correct and in that case you want to have the option to pick additional items with the warehousing app. Dynamics suggest that this scenario is possible with the warehousing app (parameter allow over pick on mobile device menu item) but it doesn't work.

Thank you for your feedback. We released this feature as part of the functionality in Over-pick materials for production orders and batch orders released for version 10.0.37.

  • This is a must-have requirement for manufacturing.

Virtually any production order needs slightly more raw materials than specified by the BOM or a formula, to account for waste, rejects, setup runs, QA tests and traceability samples, to name just a few. It’s not practical to add a crude waste percentage value on the formula line, as each manufacturing situation may require different amounts of raw materials.

Another massive problem that over-picking will solve, is the inconsistency of handling units of stocked raw materials. For example, a vendor that supplies a liquid ingredient, might randomly deliver it in different volumetric containers (10, 20, 50 litres). Therefore, setting the location directive to round up to the nearest UoM won’t work, since only one UoM per product is allowed.

  • Hello @Christopher Taylor , I don't know how to contact you, that's why I'm writing here. We are trying to prepare this modification too and we aren´t successful. Could you please advise me how you solved it? If you have any recommendations or TDD from your previous modifications, could you e-mail me at vojtech.nydl(at)autocont.cz, please? Thank you

  • It's important to manage picking with different and unknown handling units in both LP and non-LP controlled locations. We've created our own customization that tracks the maximum quantity found in a warehouse per item number per pallet received allowing material picking from non-LP controlled locations with high success.

The out of box logic for directed raw material pick skips creating work if the remaining material to be consumed is less than the input location on hand quantity. This can impede staging material for the next production order. We needed more control based so we now track typical pallet size for each item number in the background. Demo to be sent to MS program managers.

  • Yes , this should be must have feature for any manufacturing business.
