Suggested by Laurens van der Tang Completed

It is currently not possible to do an over pick for raw material picking (production order). We have scenario's that the bill of material is not correct and in that case you want to have the option to pick additional items with the warehousing app. Dynamics suggest that this scenario is possible with the warehousing app (parameter allow over pick on mobile device menu item) but it doesn't work.

Status Details

Thank you for your feedback. We released this feature as part of the functionality in Over-pick materials for production orders and batch orders released for version 10.0.37.

  • This is something must to have scenario for process manufacturing specially. Consumption may vary according to the production output.

  • I have a client who requires this functionality and was surprised to find it was not available as standard.

  • We also need this - some items are stored in physical handling units where unit conversions aren't consistent. For example rolls, buckets etc. In these cases it should be possible for the Warehouse worker to over pick according the physical handling unit. Example 120 m film is needed - then it should be possible for the warehouse worker to round up and pick a roll with 150 m (the use of catch weight would be overkill in this scenario).

  • This is a must in every manufacturing industry.

Some raw materials can be stored in rolls or in units that doesn't match for every vendor which serves the goods in different presentations and formats.

One possibility could be use of catch weight but is to fully covered as raw materials so no workaround.

  • I agree this should become a base D365 feature. Currently there is the ability to "round up to unit" on the location directive lines for raw material picking, but this option only works when the business has defined unit conversions for all items. Sometimes the nature of the business and the types of raw materials does not call for defining unit conversions, so there needs to be an alternative option for over picking when that is the case.

I most recently wrote a modification for this for a customer that did not use unit conversions. The design was to replicate the functionality of sales and transfer order over picking processes (add raw material over picking toggle on the Worker and add logic to over pick toggle on menu item), which I believe is the best route to go here.

  • This is something must to have scenario for process manufacturing specially. Consumption may vary according to the production output and availability of components.

  • This is a must have in the manufacturing of foam and foam products as well. Along with the ability to over-pick though, we also need the ability to associate the overage to the production order so it cannot be consumed by the next production order that is released. With a modification in our current system, the over-pick quantity is put on a picking list on the production order since 95% of the time that production order consumes all of the over-pick quantity.

  • It is a must feature.

  • Would be a big improvement for any manufacturing company!

  • Required for our business as well.

Currently looking at development to implement since it is not in base.
