When a new record is created that meets the conditions of a Duplicate Detection Rule, the popup warning message seen by the user does not display very many columns or much useful information. The ability to customize this view by adding more columns and having the ability to configure the sort order would be extremely useful for end users to evaluate whether or not they should create the duplicate.

I have raised this again via https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=1b9b6d87-2647-ec11-a3ee-0003ff45a9b5 so that it's looked at as the current experience is no where near acceptable.

On top of the suggestion to be able to customize the views, some issues should be fixed as wel:
• Option sets: the value is displayed, not the label (e.g. Status Reason shows “1” instead of “Active”.
• Owner field: shows empty, although obviously it is filled in.
• Fields are currently not displayed in the same order as defined in the Advanced Find view (which is the basis for the 'Current record' view.

And some additional improvements:
• Screen should be wider, so that information in the columns becomes readable also when there are more than 4 columns in the view.
• Click on a duplicate found should open in a separate window, instead of in the same window, causing you to lose your changes.

Have asked in a Service Request about a fix and now got the answer from MS Support "... this feature of editing the view columns of duplicate detection view was not implemented, so it is expected by design... ."

Hello MS,
is there any update on the idea? As it was planned in the last year, is there a plan to include it in the new release? Also at least the field "Merged" could be searchable to include in the detection duplicate rules to avoid already seeing the inactive records that were already merged.
Thank you in advance for any update.

This improvement to the duplicate detection popup obviously did not get included in the 2020 Wave 2 or in the 2021 Wave 1 upgrades. We do see improvements to the Merge popup, but this is useless if we can't use the duplicate detection popup. Our end users need to see different data than is available OOTB from Microsoft on the duplicate detection popup in order to determine whether or not the records are indeed duplicates.

When can we get this popup to be configurable to add more fields, so that end users can make sound decisions on duplicate detection and merging?

@Paramita Chatterjee

It appears that this functionality was not added in 2020 Wave 2. Is it possible to re-open this idea suggestion so the product team can consider adding this functionality in a future release?

Our business teams have noticed this as well and would like to have some way of customizing the columns so our users can have the necessary data points. We have a large group of users in the call center interacting with D365 via Unified Service Desk, so CTRL+Left-Click is not an option at this time as we would need to invest in some reconfiguration to allow for this.

Agree this needs and should be better - we have a CTRL and left click work round to view the other duplicate record in another tab without losing the record you are trying to create. Getting 250 users to take these additional steps and hope they do check the duplicate record isn't practical - this is a bad process, which most users don't bother with and choose ignore and save. This is creating many duplicates for us and has to be improved in the medium term
C'mon Microsoft - if you can do Kanban boards in forecasting, you can improve the duplicate detection on UI

I totally agree with David on this. It is totally unacceptable that this is not currently possible in the unified interface. In the legacy web client you can control this using the lookup view of that entity. This means that currently the duplicate records functionality in the UCI is inferior to the legacy client in this regard.

Please fix this for us MS :)
