Hi All,

Facebook has a "View as" feature which lets users to view their profile as another person: http://www.wikihow.com/View-Your-Facebook-Timeline-As-Another-User

This feature in D365O would greatly improve testing the security role configurations. Security/System administrator would be able to click on a "View as" button on any AX form and select a system user from a dropdown to view the form as that particular user.

It would be great if you can add this to the road map.

Cheers,

Zoltan

This would be a helpful functionality

Martin is correct. The impersonate option should allows a system administrator to work across the entire application as another user. This is a great feature that I used all the time in ServiceNow.

This would be very helpful not only to improve testing of security role configurations, but also for troubleshooting any subsequent user access issues.

I agree too, There was part of this functionality available in Security development tool to login with a specific role.

It would be great to have a feature which will allow something similar or to allow an AX admin to login as a different user or using his roles and permissions.

It sounds like your describing the 'Security Testing Workspace' from the AX 2012 Security Development tool https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/operations/dev-itpro/lifecycle-services/ax-2012/overview-security-development-tool-user-interface this was indeed a very powerful and useful tool when setting up security for large organisations.

Private Browsing / "Run as a different user" is fine in test environments when you know all the passwords, but in live it becomes impossible to test as a real user (who should never be asked to divulge their password!)

Not sure, you can easily open a private browser session and login with the user that has the profile you want to test. Seams like a fair workaround to me.

But you can still do this similar to AX 2012 (Run as different user) by using the Contoso logins. Open a new private browser session and log in with different credentials. It's not as obvious as what you suggest but it works. Facebooks view as functionality is hard to find, too ;)

I agree that this functionality would be useful, nevertheless I think the scope should be wider than a single form. For example, we sometimes want to see the navigation pane or the company selector in the same way as a user. Also, running a whole session with the same permissions as a different user allows interacting with the form, such as opening lookups and related forms. Of course, it doesn't mean that it can't be started from a specific form as requested by Zoltan.
