A current limitation in the goods in transit management solution using voyages and GIT orders is the lack of updating the final destination warehouse after the invoice has been posted.
The scenario this targets are for example FOB shipments from ASIA to EUROPE where the original intention is either to purchase the stock into a third party warehouse or a distribution hub, but due to change in stock availability/demand, the shipment in in mid-transit will be re-routed to a production site directly.
The alternative of using transfer orders to re-route will not work in scenarios when the shipment is pre-labelled with batch number & license plate.
What would this enhancement enable for the landed cost module?
-Greater visibility for material planning working with (for example) replenishing a production site
-Allow for receival of goods in the correct warehouse without adding virtual transfers on assumed dimensions
-Allow for updates towards integrated external systems (TMS, WMS)
-Allow for updates towards carrier services in regards to destination of the goods
What would this enhancement enable in general
-Stronger competitive capabilities in comparisons to other ERP systems with similar features supporting this scenario
Comments
My client has the same requirement to able to change the receiving warehouse/delivery address on a goods in transit order but is not able to due to the purchase order being invoiced. This scenario is so frequent for the client that they have decided to switch off goods in transit orders all together. The system should allow you to update the final warehouse/delivery address on the goods in transit order.
