The Brick type fieldgroup is used to display data as a Brick and is a table property and cannot be extended. If we want to use an existing table but want to use different fields in the Brick, there is no way for us to do this. Also sometimes the fields we want to show may be different depending on the page context.

We should be allowed to specify a fieldgroup(Brick... property on a list page or page extension which will override the standard property on the table.

This is a "show-killer". As already mentioned by other commenters, we mostly end up with useless lists on a mobile device. Are there any news form Microsoft or has anyone found out a workaround/alternatives?

I am not sure why we need to vote for this change. This issue is a major problem!
We are designing an application for use with mobile phones. And as you may know, all lists on mobile phones uses brick layout as the only option.
This means, that we are not able to change any std. BC lists in the application! Every single list uses the one brick layout made by Microsoft. And even worse – lists without a brick definition, uses a "random" selection of fields, mostly ending up with useless lists on a mobile phone.
Please reconsider this issue. We really need to be able to make additional brick layouts. E.g. make brick layouts for pages, to overwrite the std. brick layout for lists.

This is one of the most needed features to lift BC to mobile, atm we have to replace list views of standard table with a Control addin
