Hi Business Central Team,
you ask: "What if you accidentally create an account, post an entry, discover mistake and post a reverse entry - the new account was a mistake, not needed, will never be used again...should you still be able to delete the account?"
Well, if there is still the setup "do not delete accounts with G/L-entries after this date", it would be possible to adapt the Setup temporarily and delete the account. Though i personally would not do that, because then you have at least 2 G/L-Entries without account-number. And that could lead to questions in an financial Audit.
@Frederik Tanghe: thanks for your comments and your idea. :-)
Kind regards,
Birgit

I would add a new setting in General ledger setup: 'Block deletion G/L accounts'.
@ Business Central Team: in case you have this accidental error posting on account that you want to delete. You can solve that by disabling the block deletion G/L accounts + renumber G/L account (afterwords : of course: re-enable parameter 'block deletion G/L accounts'.

My excuses, I created also a idea for this. https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=1e59772b-c051-eb11-8fed-0003ff688ba0
So please add this function!

Dear Microsoft-Administration,
please approve this suggestion!
The current setting and function can lead to huge problems. It must not be possible to delete accounts within a certain period of time.
Thank you!
