I believe that update notification emails should include a format of dd/MMM/yyyy.
However if the US format is prefered in some regions, this should be relative to the region of the tenant itself.
Also the date/time values could be converted to that of the tenant's region, although I could see if that would not work given you could have more timezones in one region.

Another idea that came from Aske Holst was to use an international format: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601
I would add that whatever format it is, it could also be nice to be able to configure it on the Admin page, depending on the admin's preference.
