When sending a single email you can use the Email Engagement functionality of creating and sending a followed email message where "reply rate", "open rate", and "email count" can be enabled for that message. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/ai/sales/email-engagement#create-and-send-followed-email-message
When sending emails to a list of people either via a quick campaign or by selecting multiple contacts or leads then clicking "Send Direct Email" you cannot enable the follow controls. (See where it says not enabled in the email template selection screen.

This is a required feature otherwise people wont use CRM for just book keeping deals, can you suggest a workaround meanwhile? can't believe this is open from 2019.

We recently discovered that the Email Engagement options do not work when using the Send Direct Email feature, even though "Follow Email Activity" is set to Allow for all records. This creates a problem when users want to use templates to send emails in batches. We have no insight on the email engagement, and have to come up with a workaround. This is needed.

Seems like there are plenty of third-party options that allow for tracking email responses from quick campaigns, that also integrate with Microsoft 365.

I can't believe this is not built-in, very disappointing.

Why can't it do this out of the box? Very Frustrating.

Excellent idea. One of a few remaining reasons why our clients buy a well known add-in
