Hello, as you may be aware AU has complex suspension of leave based on the type of leave your are taking and there period of leave you are are taking. Specifically, in Victoria when taking maternity leave is a good example. Suspension is based on the length of leave and suspension impacts different types of leave. In addition, depending on the type of employment, full-time, part-time and casual, Long Service Leave can accrue based on average hours over a period of time eg 12 months. The accrual is then averaged based on the number of hours worked in the period. In some cases, salary is averaged over the period of time eg 12 months time for accural and/or payment. Banked leave can have different rules to new leave, in particular with Grandfather clauses, therefore would be great to have a banking rule. Another practice is AU is to use a leave balance of one type of leave first, then overflow into another type of leave, effectively adding the balances together. The pay out and application of each bank may vary, hence the 2-3 types of leave balances need to be seperate just in case a payout occurs and added together for application. Last one, similar to the above, applying for a type of leave that differs to accural base. eg You can apply to take time off for your family, however, the balance is from personal leave. This means we need to be able to link accruals from one type of leave that differs from the leave taken type of leave.

These type of leave requirements are not a nice to have but a must have in the Australian landscape. It will be very hard to any software solution that does not have this leave functionality to be successful. Organizations that operate in Australia will use software solutions that provide for the complexity of leave and enterprise agreement rules.
