With the "Custom Report Layouts" functionality having entered Legacy state with it to be deprecated at a certain point, we should begin using the new "Reports Layout" function to add our custom reports.



In the old functionality, we are able to create a blank Word document and the already configured XML Mapping could be used to select fields appropriate to the Object ID of the Custom Layout. This type of production is easy to be carried out by all users when wanting to create a report to fit their needs.


In the new functionality, in order to be able to create a custom layout, a partner or a developer needs to develop an extension for Business Central through which generation and managements of reports would be easier to maintain, however the development an upkeep on the extension will solely depend on the Partner/Developer and the users will have to depend on their partners to have created this solution.

 

We believe that an improvement should be conducted of the functionality to be able to create reports more easily depending on your needs.
