Our customers find the GUID really annoying. Given that the integration is driven by Document Location records it should be possible to add metadata to these to preserve the pretty name while keeping the duplicates issue at bay.

This is really a show stopper of the CRM-Sharepoint integration. If you store documents for entitys (quote, invoice, ...) you'll get 2 times the 32 character long GUID for the folders in sharepoint. So you'll hit the 260 character limitation of the URL very quickly. And if you're using the Sharepoint synchronisation on the client PCs they will just stop synchronising if you have a single path paroblem...

Microsoft why did you choose make it possible to store 32^16 duplicates? It's a  sledgehammer to crack a nut

Microsoft: this only has 5 votes, but this might not show the real size of the problem. It's probably because: - A lot of CRM consultants / developers convinced their users to accept this bad piece of engineering / user experience. They can't fix it anyway. - This page does not show up in the Google/Bing search results - The search functionality on this site is bad
