Currently AX 2012 R3 and 365 for operations allows the creation of raw materials picking work for expired batches. Also executing the work is not blocked.
For Sales picking work there is a check on expired batches. See comment from MS: The check for expired batches and sellable days when using batch below reservation hierarchy when releasing to warehouse is only for sales orders. We do not have this notion for raw material picking work order types.”
I would like to have a check on expired batches for raw material picking work as well.

I'm not able to up-vote this idea but it would be very nice to have, in order to prevent the picking of expired raw materials.
