In my scenario, I only want to pick full boxes (20lbs) to bring them in the production area. For that I'm using a location directive with enabled "Round up to unit". If not the full box is used in production, this broken box is coming back to the warehouse location, containing a rest of 15lbs.
Now, if this broken box is the last box on the license plate at the location, this location is never be considered when releasing a production order to warehouse.
The scenario is similar to: http://devlicious.net/round-up-work-for-raw-material-picking-to-match-the-handling-unit. But I also do not want to weight the needed lbs at the location, I want to weight it in the production area.
Setup:
- released products setup with batches and staging (Material picking in license plate locations)
- location directive strategy "FEFO batch reservation"
- one license plate contains 50 boxes
- locations are license plate controlled
The scenario above you can only handle today in an organizational way: If you find a broken box as the last item on a pallet, you can move it manually in the production area or consolidate this one to another pallet.
