The "automatic release of sales orders" batch job should be allowed to automatically delete shipments/loads if the release fails (which could be due to location directive failures - deliberate or not). It should be possible to set this as a parameter (yes/no) on the job configuration.

A common issue is that the release to warehouse fails because the items can be reserved but they are not moved to the correct location yet (which will cause location directives to fail). Thus, items can be reserved - but not released before other work is completed or the item is moved to the correct location. In the current solution this will cause the release to fail; however a shipment & load is still created which blocks for further releases. To be able to re-release you need to - manually - delete shipments prior to re-releasing to warehouse again...

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our roadmap; however, we are tracking it and if we get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in the future.

This is a frustrating issue in each of my WMS project. Too much unexpected manual work to re-release sales order to warehouse to trigger work creation. We have to do customization to fix this issue.

Hope MS can fix this gap ASAP.

This is a requirement on every project I've done. This is a big gap in automating the warehousing processes requiring a lot of manual work to monitor failed shipment releases.

Excellent idea. Every single project I've been on that utilized the AWMS always complains about these orphan shipments/loads and always asks if there is a cleanup function to deal with them. 👍

Great idea! We do also have customers that face this issue. Scenario is that items are reserved ordered, items arrives warehouse, and from receiving/registration to put away work for purchase order, it can take a couple of days. In between these will not be able to be picked and therefore location directive failure for receiving location. Would like a flexible solution where Load/Shipment got deleted, or if more lines on load either the whole load/shipment or just the line with failure.

Thank you for putting up this idea?
We face the exact same issue and have done a customization of a shipment deletion batch job to get around it.
We much rather prefer we have Microsoft Integrated Solution for this.

Ideally wouldn't be restricted to the batch job, there should be a parameter setting for this that applies to all methods of releasing to warehouse, perhaps on the warehouse.

This is a great idea. I was just about to raise it myself!
