When a Customer has ie a Production BOM for trousers, and these trousers comes in different lengths - then you should be able to state this on the Production BOM Lines:
ie Trousers Variant 100 needs 100 meters of string and Trousers Variant 150 needs 150 meters of string - or maybe even another item!
Quite easy to implement - irritating that it is not standard - as the Variant IS standard...
