Currently, when customers install Business Central extensions via the in-client AppSource Gallery (Extension Management → AppSource Gallery → Install App), no marketplace lead metadata is generated or sent to Partner Center.
However, when the same extension is installed from the AppSource website, leads are correctly created and appear in Partner Center → Referrals and configured CRM systems.
Business Impact:
This inconsistency means partners miss critical customer lead data when installations happen through the in-client experience. As the in-client gallery becomes the primary discovery and installation path for users, this gap in lead tracking directly impacts partner CRM automation, sales pipeline visibility, and customer engagement opportunities.
Proposed Solution:
Align the in-client AppSource Gallery installation flow with the website flow by emitting the same marketplace lead events when customers install extensions using "Install App." This would ensure consistent lead tracking regardless of installation method.
Additional Context:
This behavior is not documented in official Microsoft documentation, creating confusion about expected marketplace lead generation. Partners should receive leads for all customer-initiated installations, regardless of whether they originate from the website or in-client gallery.
