Currently, the D365 system will not calculate depreciation on assets with a negative basis (acquisition price.)  This is causing us to track these assets in Excel and manually record depreciation expense.  Can you please consider adding this functionality?

Status Details

Thrilled to announce this feature released in 2022 Release Wave 1 APP 10.0.24.

  • Due to changing system, negative amount cannot be caudated by system, I need to do deprecation for negative amount every month, I hope the function can add in Dynamics. it is very helpful for me.

  • This is very helpful. Currently we are manually do depreciation for negative FA.

  • This is important to us. At least remove the validation during the posting to allow manual entry on the asset. It does not allow to post a depreciation on an asset with negative NBV even manually.
  • This is a bizarre request. Fixed Assets in nature should have a value greater than $0. (Not be negative in value). You either acquire an asset for a positive value or obtain it for free. If an asset is being created, then the appropriate mechanism would be to use Project Accounting to capture the costs of the Asset, then capitalize the asset when the asset is complete. As for Fixed Asset Adjustments, there are mechanisms to increase/decrease an assets value, however the principal still remains, a Fixed Assets should never be less than $0.00.
