Suggested by Ludwig Reinhard – Completed
Hi,
D365 ships with a lot of automatic financial dimensions such as the customer, vendor, project, etc., which are automatically crated at the time a new customer, vendor, project, etc. is created.
Quite unfortunate is the fact that those financial dimensions are automatically created but not automatically assigned. That is, even though a financial dimension for a customer, vendor, Project, etc. is created, users have to assign that value manually to the customer, vendor, Project master.
Idea:
Create new parameters that allows setting those financial dimensions automatically without any user interaction.
Thank you and best regards,
Ludwig

Yes this will be very useful
I would add a related request -
not only allow to default values into a newly created vendor/customer etc. but also create setup allowing to restrict what dimensions can be selected or if a dimension is mandatory. - in a similar way to account structures and account structure rules.
It is very common that every new vendor or customer must be set up with one or more dimension values so these values will later default into created transactions (such as sales orders, invoices, etc.)
Right now ALL dimensions show on the client/vendor record, and it is not possible to give the user a warning or error message if they forgot to fill the "mandatory" dimensions.
Good idea to have default dimension link automatically to dimensions defined in the setup !
For exemple ItemGroup being a dimension set defined, when I put a groupe in the release product it would automatically get in the financial dimension of that product.
This gets my vote
Good. I've also been asking for this feature for some time now.
For the Projects module, we will need 2 options.
Yes, agree.
Please include the Legal Entity dimension for auto-population of the dimension value. Right now, there is no good place to designate a default value for a Legal Entity dimension. Having a Legal Entity Dimension is helpful for defining validation logic in the GL Account Structure(s).
Good idea and our customer needs this especially for projects. Also I agree and vote Zvika Rimalt suggestion/related request for having setup that allows selecting mandatory dimensions.
