Situation :
Planning Optimization replaces the usual Master Resource Planning.
Within this Planning Optimization, CTP capability has been added, it becomes GA in 10.0.32.
But : this CTP is not yet able to run on the fly, when user saves the sales line. It's necessary to re-run the master plan. We are then loosing reactivity.
Idea : The request is then : retrieve instant capabilities of the existing CTP with the old MRP :
- Be able to request manually a delivery date control, on each sales line. Get an immediate information.
- Have a setting to activate by default this delivery date control, when user saves the line. If a risk of late delay is detected, inform the user with the form : "Requested delivery date can not be promised..." And visibility on alternative possible delivery dates (as the existing form).

Thanks for your input! This will be available from 10.0.41. Please enable its feature "Near real time CTP for Planning Optimization" in feature management.

Vital for our customers, otherwise they lose the competitive advantage that the real-time CTP brought...
You need to have an estimate of when you can produce the item... for the customer on the phone! There isn't always time to "park" each request and get back to them. This is where CTP was powerful (even though it wasn't 10% perfect) and now it has been deprecated some customers will not be able to move to Planning Optimization.
CTP on the fly is a must have these days.
This is a must-have in order to support our business needs.
This definitely an important need for customers, as well as being able to get the CTP from D365 and Planning Optimization to external systems (ex: Custom E-com websites, Resellers, Retailers, etc..)
Yes, this is critical for the CTP process. We should not wait for Master plan to be executed
We use CTP when taking orders via the phone and also our Webshop confirms the delivery date using CTP.
In both scenarios our customers gets a very fast confirmation. In the UI the CTP calculation is even done in an asynchronously call due to the new grid control. This means a sales line is confirmed while we are entering the next sales line. The order takers loves this functionality.
So we need the CTP to be calculated immediately after the sales line is saved. This is what we are used to and what is expected by our customers.
Using the planning optimization CTP will unfortunately be a poor customer (and order taker) experience as we have to wait several minutes before the sales lines are confirmed. This has unfortunately been received as unacceptable.
Feedback from Clients - very much needed. Otherwise we can't give dates to customers on the phone
When customer service are taking phone orders, CTP can be particularly useful. They can provide accurate and reliable delivery dates to customers, proactively manage customer expectations, and identify potential inventory shortages or capacity constraints.
Implementing CTP in phone orders can have several benefits, including improved customer service, optimized planning processes, reduced inventory, reduced order cancellations and returns, increased sales, better resource utilization, improved collaboration, and a competitive advantage in the market.
During the last implementations this have been an requirement.
It is a major setback if customers cannot run CTP at order creation. For some of our clients it is part of their competitive advantage so it must be fixed ASAP.
