We get this request often from users who want the capability to auto populate the name field on the create page of an entity from the search text box on the entity list page.
Flow:
1. User goes to the entity list (ex. Accounts)
2. User searches for record using search textbox on the top right
3. User does not find what they want
4. User clicks on New/Create Entity record
5. Name field is populated with the search value
