When configuring default dimensions on a G/L Account, users have the ability to define filters for allowed dimension values. However, when entering transactions—such as Sales Invoices, Journals, or other documents—the dimension value lookup still displays all available dimension values, including those that are not permitted by the configured filter.

While the system prevents posting when an invalid dimension value is selected, the user is not notified of the issue until the posting process. This can lead to unnecessary confusion and rework.

I believe there is an opportunity to improve the user experience by introducing a Default Dimension Filter Priority setup page. This would allow administrators to specify which default dimension filters should take precedence. When users select a dimension value on a document or journal, the lookup would then be restricted to only the values allowed by the applicable default dimension filter. As a result, users would be guided toward valid selections during data entry rather than discovering validation errors only at the time of posting.

This enhancement would improve data entry efficiency, reduce posting errors, and provide a more intuitive user experience by enforcing dimension restrictions at the point of selection rather than during final validation.
