On the sales order side the function Delivery date control allows us to define exactly WHEN a product can be shipped, how long transportation time it is and when shipments can be received by the customer. This functionality is standard and was introduced by Microsoft already in Dynamics AX 4.0. It is requested to have the same possibility on the purchase order side (PODDC). By adding; Sales administration lead time (defined by the vendor) Order deadline (at the vendor) Transportation time based on calendars including "Closed for pick-up" Vendor internal lead time When these parameters have been defined for a given item/vendor we can precisely calculate both ship and receipt date for purchase orders. The purchase order line must have both requested ship date and requested receipt date to support this. In addition, master plan and ATP/CTP should be fully integrated with purchase order delivery date control. This way master plan will always create planned orders with precisely calculated; Order date Requested ship date Requested receipt date ATP/CTP should also be integrated with purchase order delivery date control. So, instead of just returning a fixed lead time, PODDC will dynamically calculate the first possible ship date from a given vendor and also a first possible receipt date. CTP will then respond based on this when there are no on-hand or other receipts available. Lindab has already developed and successfully implemented PODDC plus TODDC (transfer order delivery date control) in AX 4.0. This allows us to; Give precise delivery dates on our sales order to our customers (since CTP is integrated with PODDC and TODDC) Increase customer service by being able to KEEP our promises Automatically firm the majority of our planned purchase and transfer orders since dates are always calculated precisely correct Lower our inventory levels since we don't have to compensate with too high safety stock levels If Microsoft is interested I can share a more detailed specification of our solution. It is a generic solution and I would guess that many customers could benefit from it. We have a good business case in this solution and it has come up as a major GAP in our fit/gap analysis of Dynamics 365 for finance and operations.
