Currently there are 4 options on default dimensions: code mandatory, same code, no code, or blank. None of these account for this following scenario:

Client wants to restrict G/L account 1000 from using a specific dimension value. For example, dimension = department, dimension values = 00, 01, 02, 03. This G/L account 1000 can use all dimension values except 00. There should be another drop down option "Multiple code" where you can select all dimension values you want (leaving out the code that is NOT allowed, in this case 00).

Thank you for your valuable feedback. We have decided to deliver this idea and make it available with Business Central 2021 release wave 1.

Instead of allowing users to pick just any dimension value, when the dimension Value Posting is set to Code Mandatory, using Allowed Dimension Values in the Default Dimensions page, users can now pick from a predefined list of allowed dimension values that controlling, finance, or accounting departments choose as valid for particular master data, documents, or transaction posting in Business Central.

Learn more about what's new and planned for More control over settings for Default Dimensions in the release plan here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2021wave1/smb/dynamics365-business-central/more-control-over-settings-default-dimensions

Your help was greatly appreciated,

I have another linked scenario to this. My client has 4 dimensions. They need this scenario per GL account:

- Dimension 1 - Mandatory
- Dimension 2 - Mandatory unless Dimension 1 = "list of values" then it is Optional.
