Currently, the default order settings of type "inventory" impact both generation of planned production orders and planned transfer orders. However, in many companies, it just doesn't make any sense to have both types of orders default quantities tied to the same constraints.

This is an issue we have run into many times and there's simply no standard workaround.

We would need the default order settings to be split in 4 parts instead of the 3 current to deal separately with all kinds of orders just as it is currently the case for Sales and purchase orders.

- Purchase order
- Production/Batch order
- Transfer order
- Sales order

Thank you for your feedback. This is a great suggestion! We will consider this in our roadmap long term roadmap.

As a design alternative, why not get rid of Default order settings and add all the Default order settings fields to Item Coverage (a new tab?) and permit distinction at Site level, Warehouse level and other dimension settings? Production and Transfer are already separate there. Now you can have Stops, different minimum order quantities at the Warehouse and also at the Variant level (etc.). Lead times are already on Item Coverage . . .

This is a requirement on a current project, are there any updates on this functionality being added to the roadmap?

This has come up as a gaps on a number of projects - surely an easy fix???

Why not combine with Default order settings in one screen? Another tab for lot sizing, Stops, etc. PERHAPS consider extending STOPS to additional dimension combinations at the same time. But please don't delay just changing Default order settings just to do this :)

Separating the default order settings parameters for production and transfer orders is a very legitimate use case in multi warehouse setup. As expressed in previous posts, production and transfer orders support different process areas in manufacturing operations. This functionality gap continues to be a pain point for our master planning team with no practical work around.

Much needed in a multiwarehouse environment. Order sizes for moving stock are often significantly less than the minimum to produce. This causes us to plan for some pretty significant over production or disable transfer requirements and manually plan.

This is a blocker to adopt the Planning Service.

Hi,In 2020 there was the last comment - will be added to the long-term roadmap. Any news on this topic? in all projects with production this functionality needs to be discussed with the customer and eventually added an extension. ThxChristian

We built this very often as customization for our customers, but with the new D365 planning engine we really need it in the standard application!
