Currently, the default order settings of type "inventory" impact both generation of planned production orders and planned transfer orders. However, in many companies, it just doesn't make any sense to have both types of orders default quantities tied to the same constraints.

This is an issue we have run into many times and there's simply no standard workaround.

We would need the default order settings to be split in 4 parts instead of the 3 current to deal separately with all kinds of orders just as it is currently the case for Sales and purchase orders.

- Purchase order
- Production/Batch order
- Transfer order
- Sales order

We built this very often as customization for our customers, but with the new D365 planning engine we really need it in the standard application!

Agree, it is an overdue missing functionality.

Agree, it is an overdue missing functionality. We need to separate Production Default order settings from Transfer. Also we need to enable stopping production orders by site without stopping entire inventory by site which puts an item at a Limbo.

This is long overdue and much needed. Is this on the roadmap yet? and maybe with a planned release date?

This is a difficult limitation to work around. We have materials that we need to build in large batch quantities but need to be sent to our 3PM vendors in much smaller quantities. Our planning team is having to manually override each transfer order which transfers the inventory to the Vendor warehouse. My suggestion would be to add something to the Item Coverage when you override the planned order type to be able to override the Inventory parameter settings for that record. Thanks.

Great suggestion!
I was thinking that normally a purchased product is not manufactured, and a manufactured product is not purchased, therefore, wouln't it be as easy as making that the defaults used on production orders are taken from the "Purchase" tab? Which it could be renamed to "supply" or something like it.
