When a customer uses the Service Order Management functionality and therefore also Service Items, it would be very helpfull to be able to do Quality Checks also on Service Items.
For example, new items need to be calibrated before shipping and also during maintenance and repair afterwards, this need to be done and stored on Service Item level.
Also non Service Items, like Item of type: non-inventory and/or service might be serviced in a Service Order and the checks needs to be stored.
Some customers also link to a national or international portal, where the information is stored for all service items for all companies and/or customers, where API's are needed to synchronize the results with these kind of external databases.
