We have had some situations where the register may freeze, and our only option was to reset the app from settings, or re-activate to kind of get to clear up and be able to re-use. In this case when it was cleared, the gift card was still kept as activated. We need to cancel this gift card by head quarter. This causes operation issue and security risk for the store.
Could we only activate the gift card after the payment? for example, it could be after the payment, and before the transaction completes. Or it could be another process to activate the gift card after the transaction. Thank you.

We have been experienceing same issue with Givex.
It works well in lower (Test envionrment), where if you void the gift card, amount is reverted, but in Production amount is issued on Gift card event payment is not taken and Gift card line is voided at POS, which is a big risk.

We just found another way that the gift card was activated but it should not.
When we issue a gift card in Italy store for a return transaction, the steps as following:
1. Return an item from an existing transaction
2. Issue a gift card. Put in gift card number. The system will automatically populate the amount
3. The system think for a while, and reject the gift card issuance with error message "You can mix sales and return in the same transaction". This is the rule for Italy store. Due to fiscal registration compliance, we cannot put both sales and return in the same transaction.
4. We do a balance check for this gift card. The gift card is activated with the amount issued before.
So for some reason if we issue the gift card and do not cancel it properly, the gift card will be activated with amounts.
