Organisations often consist of disparate units that are required to maintain distinct balances at all levels i.e. Reserves, Assets and Liabilities. In most cases, the requirement is imposed by regulatory or statutory framework that govern the use of funds. This is common in the public sector and the NFPs where there are several pots of funds that have to be kept in balance. In most configurations, the pots or Funds are distinguished as Dimensions so that postings can be tracked and reported. It would be useful to make available a feature whereby a particular general journal batch contains a restriction that requires 'Balance by Dimension'. The dimension could be either of the Global Dimensions.
