For a lot of our customers, depending on production lot size (ie Qty on prod order), the production order is processed on different machine or work centers, and can use different components.

Could we say the MRP/MPS to propose automatically to plan with the adequate production bom version or routing version depending on this criteria ?

We already find this functionnality in your main competitor solution ...

With the move to adding Production BOM and Routing capabilities to Item SKUs, it would be nice to see this being looked into again.

A way to do this would be leveraging the Unit of Measurement on an Item, and allow overriding the BOM No. or Routing No. based on that UOM, in addition to the Variant and Location Code.

Some example scenarios:
- If what you're manufacturing requires half a sheet of steel, the full sheet of steel would need to go through a saw/cutter, which is an additional operation in the routing (or perhaps one less) -- either way, a change in the routing and/or raw materials.
- It may also be that when you're producing 10 pieces of something, the total operation time is lower than when producing 1 piece, meaning the capacity costs would be different. Currently if you're making a production order of 10 pieces, it'll just take the capacity of 1 piece and multiply by 10.
