It should be possible to have an overlap on a position. When someone is leaving a position (termination), and a new person is hired, you try to achieve that the new person is trained by the person who is leaving, so you loose as less knowledge as possible. That means that during a certain period, there is an overlap on the position, as 2 people are on the same position temporarily.
