You could take a break and log back in immediately to bring back to System Waiting. So there's no Standard solution to stop indirect activity and start a new production Job or Project Job directly.

You should not STOP an activity before you start a new. You just go from the one to the next. This will improve the data as you won't have a second or two of "waiting job" between each activity you do. When you start a production or project job you can log right into it. That will effectively stop your indirect activity.
