I propose to you, that the search function, ALT+Q, which we all use, all day long, gets to keep it's focus on the text field.
Instead of the user waiting for the (slow) result and having to press ESC to gain focus.
The excitement of guessing "will it loose focus this time" is getting quite old after these first few years.
Keyboard shortcuts and mouse-less operation is still terrible, but this is inconsistency is really beyond me😯
