Currently when we have prospects with a requirement to implement a portal for their customers, we have a gap that generally creates a pricing disadvantage against vendors for other platforms. Right now there is no option out of the box for a customer portal...we have to license a third party one or suggest a custom developed one, and both options are expensive. Ideally Microsoft would build a proper customer portal with a favourable/competitive licensing cost. As a simpler solution/workaround, why can't External Users be allowed to access Business Central using the base client interfaces? External Users do not need to be licensed for BC, but the restriction that they can't access the BC clients limits their use significantly. If External Users were allowed to use the web client, it would enable us to create a client portal very easily...subject to the UI limitations of the BC client of course.
