When you post the packing slip from the sales order, it is not possibly to cancel the packing slip anymore when the order contains warehouse management controlled items. The only way to cancel a packing slip for warehouse management controlled items is via the load. But when the packing slip has been posted from the order, the cancel packing slip function on the load is not available anymore.

There are cases when it makes sense to post the packing slip from the sales order, for instance when the order contains service items. Would be good if we get a function to cancel the packing slip from a sales order which contains warehouse management controlled items.
