Currently in D365 it is impossible to convert items tracking group to a group, which has owner enabled. Because of this, it is impossible for companies to convert items to inbound consignment inventory items. Only possibility would be that during go-live, the company would put all items already to owner tracking group. But this would mean that all these items should either have moving average or standard cost as valuation method. Which is not ideal... The problem occurs because once the item has transactions in InventTrans table the tracking dimension cannot be changed to a group, which has financial inventory check mark ticked. This check mark is a default and cannot be removed. “The new dimension group cannot be assigned. Other financial dimensions apply, while 'Activate closing of non-financial transfers' is set to Yes, and inventory transactions exist” Solutions could be: Either allow different valuation methods (preferably Weighted average) for inbound consignment inventory or allow users to change the tracking group later when they want to convert items to inbound consignment inventory items.
