The use of screen real estate in the field service applications could be much improved. Headers, sub headings, layout and empty sub-grids, all consume areas where valuable information could be presented. Enhancements to utilise the screen space more efficiently would greatly improve the user experience.

Examples:

  • Schedule board view only facilitates viewing of a small number of resources at a time. With a large workforce this unintuitive to use.
  • Exceptions/unscheduled bookings within the schedule board are either visible at the expense of seeing the resources, or vice versa. Removal of dead space would enable the user to see and interact with both without altering the window sizes.
  • Field Service Mobile is often used on small mobile devices. Dynamic sub-grids that expand/contract dependant on number of entries and removal of dead space would help reduce the amount of scrolling and improve the user experience.
