When an purchase and sales order are marked in a source entity, you can set up a cross docking template so that a planned cross dock is created upon release to warehouse of the sales order. When receiving the purchase order, work will be created based on the cross docking work template that you have setup and you will be able to successfully cross-dock.

However, when your purchase and sales order are placed on a warehouse that is externally managed, the marking is not automatically taken over on the inbound shipment order & outbound shipment order in the WOM legal entity. Because of this, it is impossible for the system to start cross docking in the WOM warehouse based on the cross docking template that you've set up. Only with manual interference (marking the inbound & outbound order manually), the cross docking template will be addressed.

Same applies to transfer orders.
