I understood this part of Business Central documentation regarding the work date:

After you change the work date, if you sign out or switch to another company, the work data reverts to the default work date. So the next time you sign in or switch back to the original company, you may have to set the work date again.

In addition to this functional design, it would be very useful to set the work date alongside switching company, role or something else. That does not contrdict to the upon described behaviour. It is already possible to change different fields at the same time, the work date is the only missing parameter.
