According to this discussion: (122) Viva Engage : Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Preview Programs : View Conversation (yammer.com), it seems not possible to use a "move by template" work to transfer a license plate from one location to another with by only scanning the license plate. When a license plate contains one item with several batch numbers, each batch number must be scanned individually.
If we use a simple "move" there is a button to pick the full license plate, but not in "move by template".
Problem is "move" doesn't use location directives.
It feels weird for my customers not being able to move a license plate at once and using location directives at the same time; and I agree it's difficult to explain the reason why...

This is a must-have for our business, where we are using automation. We need work to be sent to automation via the Mhax module when we scan licence plates from one location to a location near the Automation port.

Very needed and we made it work in AX2012. We would like to be able to move pallets with multiple serial numbers (same batch). After production smart guidance in multiple steps to move LPs between locations. To return to only use free movements is a step back and not expected in Advanced warehouse solutions.

We have dealt with this since going live in 2018. License plates should validate all dimensions contained without requiring additional information. Location directives should work for a set of batches at the unit of measure level set on the directive line without requiring additional confirmation (unless of course you are splitting the license plate into pieces which you need to specify quantity and batch number.
