Out of the box, when you add a product in the MPOS/CPOS transaction screen, after adding the product additional product details such as variants, barcodes, retail discount descriptions are automatically displayed under each line of the itemID on POS screen. This is a nice feature. There is no control over whether the customer wants to display on the screen or not.

The Functional profile setup will have only one control option which will allow whether to automatically expand and display the additional details by default or collapse by default.
Navigate to Retail and Commerce > Channel Setup > POS Setup > POS Profiles > Functionality profiles > under functions Set "Always expand transaction screen line details" = Yes / No.
- If yes then all the details related to the product such as product dimensions. barcode, gift card number, loyalty card number, retail discount price description will be displayed on POS screen for lines.
- If No then all the details related to the product is in collapsed mode and user will have to click the drop-down if they want to see the additional details

I came across multiple clients who want control over it they want to display by picking and choosing. So if we introduce additional parameter control fields in functional profiles as below would be really helpful for lot of the clients:

When the functional profile "Always expand transaction screen line details" = Yes then we need to additional fields populated as below:
1. Display product dimensions/variants details - By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No.
2. Display Barcode details = By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No.
3. Display retail discount description details = By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No
4. Display Loyalty card number - By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No
5. Display Gift card number - By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No
6. Display coupon number - By default Yes. But the user should be given the option to set No

- If yes means, then we will display under Item ID in each line in the POS transaction screen.
- If No mean, we would display only the relevant values as additional details. This gives customers a choice to display or not.

I may have missed anything displayed out of the box as additional details on each line. I could think only of these now as we display them out of the box. but if the MSFT Commerce Product team take look the idea and analyse further on what we are displaying under each line whether we have technical limitation by doing this, it would really usefully feature from a client’s perspective. Happy to do documentation if required to further explore the idea.
