Our process:

We maintain a lead time in the default order settings of the item because this lead time is important for master planning processes.

This lead time is used to help make decisions about the delivery date for the purchase order.

As soon as the purchase order has been sent to the supplier the follow-up process begins.

There are a number of different reasons why we need to change quantity or price in the purchase order, it could be on internal or external request. None of those reasons have a direct influence on the requested delivery date in the standard purchase process.

The challenge:

Yet D365FO will also postpone the delivery date in the purchase order line if a change of quantity or price is made. This is done as soon as the lead time in the default order settings is longer than the time until the delivery date before the change.

Proposed solution:

We need a way to make sure the lead time is respected for planning processes, but not for PO versions 2 and up.

The lead time should be ignored in this case.

This would be very useful. We mainly use the lead time to make sure MRP suggests realistic planned orders. However, as mentioned in this idea, there can be slight changes in quantity during the lead time that the purchase want to input on the purchase order to make the planning more accurate.

Great suggestion! It also goes hand in hand with this one where the calculation of the lead time should be ignored:https://experience.dynamics.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=30433430-c0f9-e911-b862-0003ff68954d
