Hi Guys,

Today I face a issue and would like to restore whole AX VM but when I check with Microsoft support engineer, this facility is not available, I think it is a common requirement to have VM snapshot so we can restore it at point to time. Can you please look into it. Let me know once this will be enable.

We should move away from the concept of managing VMs but focus on managing environments. If a D365FO environment VM is in such a bad state that it needs to be restored from a snapshot, then I'd argue that it would be safer to reprovision a fresh environment and deploy latest or the desired application deployable package and restore AxDB from a database backup. Both of which are easily stored in LCS Asset Library. Otherwise one would waste more time trying to find a snapshot of a known good state or remediate issues in a not good enough snapshot.

Currently, Azure itself is capable to VM backup and restore from Azure portal, but that is unsupported scenario from Dynamics 365 for Financial and Operations perspective because an issue has been reported as the environment becomes invisible state from LCS after restoring the VM from Azure portal.

It is very painful and time consuming process for customers to delete and deploy as a new VM each time they would like to restore it to very clean state.
