Good morning,
Suggestion:
Currently, the Chart of Accounts page only exposes a limited set of built-in filters, and dimension filtering isn't natively surfaced there the way it is on ledger entries or account schedules. For organizations running multi-entity or multi-division structures — where dimensions like Department, Project, Location, or custom global/shorthand dimensions are core to how the business is organized — it would be extremely valuable to filter the Chart of Accounts list directly by any dimension value(s), not just search or navigate through related entries.
Requested enhancement:
Add the ability to filter the Chart of Accounts page by any active dimension (both Global Dimensions 1 & 2 and Shortcut Dimensions 3–8), similar to how dimension filtering works on the General Ledger Entries or Account Schedule pages. Ideally this would let a user select one or more dimension values and see only the G/L accounts that have posted activity (or budgeted activity) against those values, without needing to pivot out to a separate report or account schedule first.
Why this matters:
- Multi-entity companies frequently need a quick view of "which accounts are actually being used by Division X" without running a full report.
- It would reduce reliance on exporting to Excel or building custom account schedules just to answer a simple filtering question.
- It aligns dimension-based analysis (already central to BC's design) with the primary G/L account list, rather than confining it to entries/reports.
Thank you,
Bob Roerdink
